These award-winning creatives evaluate NYF’s entries from over 100 countries worldwide and determine which creative campaign will move on to the medal round. Not an easy task. It takes experience, brilliant creative chops, and dedication to their craft.

NYF’s Grand Jury of 300+ creatives are one of the most diverse juries on the planet, with advertising creatives from over 50 countries around the globe, this jury is a powerhouse of innovation and creativity.

Grand Jury member Alistair Morgan is Creative Director for FCB Cape Town. He brings 18 years of advertising experience to the jury panel.  He has created award-winning work for Virgin Atlantic, Investec Private Bank, Prudential Portfolio Managers, The Cape Times and South African Breweries. Career highlights include several Cannes Lions, a One Show Pencil and two Loerie Grand Prix awards. He is also the first non-American to win the Plimpton Prize for Fiction.


New York Festivals: What are your personal criteria for choosing award-winning work?  

Alistair Morgan: Does the idea provide a platform for multiple executions? Does it have longevity? Does it make me wish I’d made it?

New York Festivals: When judging, what trends do you hope will fade away, and what “old school” trends do you hope will make a resurgence?

Alistair Morgan: I’d like to see a resurgence of ideas triumphing over executional technique and tech fads.

New York Festivals: Has the relationship between agency and client changed at all and if so how? 

Alistair Morgan: However much the industry changes, one thing that will never change is that mutual trust creates successful relationships and great work. You can’t have a relationship without trust. 

New York Festivals: If you could work in advertising alongside any one person past or present, who would it be? 

Alistair Morgan: Charles Inge. He hired me when he was ECD of Lowe London. He’s an unassuming character with a razor-sharp mind. And he’s created some of my favourite ads of all time.
